Constitution of a Task Force on 
"Developing IT strategy for Innovation and Smarter Planet based on the 
MoU entered into betwwen HLCIT and IBM"

With a view to outline a comprehensive agenda for the implementation of information technology in all sectors of economy, Government of Nepal has decided to set up a task force to formulate a comprehensive IT strategy and help generate key outputs within the framework of the MOU signed between HLCIT and IBM. The primary mandate of the task force will be to look into the priorities and challenges these sectors and the Government faces and to come up with actionable strategies aimed at aligning ICT’s with the priorities and challenges identified as well as to function as the key entity responsible for outputs envisaged in the MoU.

 Roles and Responsibilities

  1. To identify the emerging challanges in meeting the needs of the Nepal in the comming decade and to prioritize real sectors that would allow those needs to be more easily meet by the information technology (IT)
  2. To examine the performance / updation of various IT applications  in the government / PSU etc and identify changes that will allow it to meet the needs of the real sector.
  3. To examine current regulatory / policy environment and make appropriate recommendations that can better allow the information technolgoy to play its role while ensuring that government needs adequately factored in.
  4. To drive the projects in identified sectors and secure transparent projects management up to its delivery.
  5. To identify and recommend changes in the curriculum of the Information Technology courses conducted by various institutions / colleges and universities to strengthen the employability of the students and initiate and support activities leading to narrowing of industries / academia gap.
  6. To help drive a business plan for the IT Park Kavre and oversee its growth.
  7. To faciliate the establishment of various centers of excellence (domain specific) in collaboration with academic institutions, professional bodies and IT industry.
  8.   To conduct seminars/ workshops/ summit for bringing best practices of E-Governance and creating awareness among government departments on value of IT to address the priority of the Government.
