IT Park, Kavre

With increasing demand of IT related business and possible benefits that could result from clustering such businesses, so as to maximize efforts aimed at ensuring their growth and development, vision of IT park come into existence in the last decade to set up a virtual technology park around Kathmandu Valley.

Towards its commitment for the overall development of IT sector in the country, Government of Nepal embarked upon the task of establishing an IT park at Kavre along Banepa - Panauti highway. Phase I of Infrastructural development of the IT Park has been completed and is operational. Natural surroundings and serenity of the place on the foothills of the Himalayas make the IT park location ideal for peace lovers. 

HLCIT is of the conviction that IT Park will serve as a springboard for the development of IT sector in the country and hence serve a long-term national interest. A Major indirect benefit will be the creation of a dedicated IT base, which will help Nepal in getting a due share of growing International Market in software and enabled services

Vision:
The IT Park will in essence serve as a catalyst for the development of ICT sector in the country by offering world class business environment grounded on a synergetic mix of conducive policy and regulatory regime, state-of-the-art communication infrastructure and a value proposition geared towards enhancing overall productivity, efficiency and competitiveness of its stakeholders and through this process, help Nepal position itself firmly on the global IT arena.

Objective:

  • To facilitate the promotion, development, and export of computer software and other ICT related products and services.
  • To Prepare skilled human resources and help develop software-related expertise and create working environment in the field of IT.
  • To attract national and international agencies to set up their information-based activities including foreign investment in IT sector.
  • To create model IT Park to promote private entrepreneurs to invest on such parks in other areas of the countries.
  • To Provide one-window service to entrepreneurs in the software and development field.
  • To encourage Non Resident Nepali (NRN) investment in IT sector.
  • To faciliate Research and development in IT sector.

Location: 
The park is located along Banepa- Panauti road in KavrePalanchowk district. It is 30 km east of kathmandu and 1.5 km south of Banepa. Connected by all weather black topped roads.

Area:
The total area of the park is 234 Ropani ( About 12 Ha) on an eastern hill slope of Dhaneshwor Mahadevsthan.

Infrastructure:
Roads- 200 m double lane + 300m single lane
- Buildings:
       a) Business Block- 1812.54 Sq. m (144 working stations)
       b) Administrative Block - 585.60 Sq. m (With Library & meeting hall)
       c) Residential Block- 706.42 Sq. m ( 3-studio type rooms. 2 - bed room flat, 2-two bedroom flat, 2 duplex of chief administrator and guest.)
- Electricity: External electricity supply with stand by diesel generator of 300 KVA
- Telecommunication: World-class fibre optic & VSAT.
- Other Accessories like PABX-Intercom, server networking. Software, etc. for immeadiate plug and play.
